About

Lauralyn Brickhouse is a (mostly) primitive artist, self-taught in drawing, painting and digital photography - although she did complete her first darkroom photography class in December, 2013. Lauralyn has been posting and writing about her, "Cheap Camera, 10 Second Timer Self-Portraits" on her blog, "The Big Ugly" since September, 2010. She also shares her beloved Instagram pics., and analog snaps on The Big Ugly's baby sister blog, "Little Pretties".

Lauralyn was honored to have been asked to be one of the featured photographers in the fourth edition of, "The Mammoth Book of Erotic Photography" by, Maxim Jakubowski, and was dubbed the "On-Location Girl" in Haje Jan Kamps' book, "Shooting Yourself - Self-Portraits with Attitude". Lauralyn's work was also selected to appear in the See.Mee book, "Exposures 2011", and most recently - she enthusiastically accepted the invitation to be a speaker on the topic of erotic photography at, as well as to host a self-portraiture workshop at Eroticon USA 2013, in Atlanta, Ga..

Lauralyn is the owner and curator of 1 lb. Gallery - a fine art photography gallery and print studio in Winchester, Va..
